Department of Education Science and Training (DEST)
DEST is a Commonwealth statutory authority providing a national focus for vocational education and training.

VET - What is it?
Vocational education and training is 'education and training for work'. It exists to develop and recognise the competencies or skills of learners.

New Apprenticeships information on the DEST website
They combine practical work with structured training and lead to nationally recognised qualifications. In some cases, students can even begin a New Apprenticeship while still at school. A New Apprenticeship is also an excellent option for students who want to study and work in their local area.

Search for New Apprenticeships in the NT
Search the database of all New Apprenticeships in the NT by name, national qualification code, or registered training organisation.

Northern Territory New Apprenticeships Centre
The Northern Territory New Apprenticeships Centre is part of an Australia wide network of New Apprenticeships Centres. These Centres provide information and services to people interested in New Apprenticeships.

Get VET - for General Public and Youth

Job Guide
The Job Guide provides an in-depth look at a range of occupations, and their education and training pathways. It also gives useful information about how to work out what occupations suit you best, based on your interests and abilities.

myfuture
myfuture is an internet based career exploration service designed to be of assistance to all Australians who wish to explore their career options. The primary target market is students aged 16-24, but the service will be invaluable to anyone considering their future career.

Employment
Offering jobseekers, employers and employees access to online information about careers, employment initiatives and services.

Job Network
Job Network is a national network of private and community organisations dedicated to finding jobs for unemployed people, particularly the long term unemployed.

Job Placement
Providing an employer-focused recruitment service which meets the recruitment needs of employers and assists eligible job seekers to gain employment through access to a large number of diverse jobs.

JobSearch
Providing jobseekers with an easy to use search engine, allowing searches for available jobs to be carried out by postcode, occupation or Job Number.

Courses
"Get the training for the job or career you want". You can search to find courses by occupation, by region, or by institution. Training gives details on courses and education and training providers including universities, TAFE and registered training organisations.

Work for the Dole (WFD)
Providing work experience placements for job seekers in approved activities which provide facilities and services to local communities. Through WFD, participants may also earn a Training Credit and receive a Passport to Employment.

Community Work
General information about Community Work and how you can participate by assisting a volunteer organisation.

Transition to Work
Assists people, particularly women and mature age people, return to paid work after long absences. Builds on the success of the Return to Work programme and the Jobs, Education and Training (JET) programme.

Indigenous Programmes
The Indigenous Employment Policy has been developed to generate more employment opportunities for Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Self Employment
Provides information to those people who are interested in starting their own small business.

AQTF: Australian Quality Training Framework
The Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) is a set of nationally agreed standards to ensure the quality of vocational education and training services throughout Australia.

National Training Information Service
The National Training Information Service site contains a full listing of, and details about, registered training organisations, nationally recognised courses and qualifications, training packages (competency standards, nationally recognised qualifications and assessment guidelines), other competency standards and training package projects under development.

New Apprenticeships Centres Information Service
This site provides current information on vocational education and training, training packages and links to federal, state and territory training authorities.
