- What is it?
Vocational education and training is 'education and
training for work'. It exists to develop and recognise
the competencies or skills of learners.

They combine practical work with structured training
and lead to nationally recognised qualifications. In
some cases, students can even begin a New Apprenticeship
while still at school. A New Apprenticeship
is also an excellent option for students who want to
study and work in their local area.

The Northern Territory New Apprenticeships Centre is

Job Guide
The Job Guide provides an in-depth look at a range of

myfuture is an internet based career exploration service
designed to be of assistance to all Australians who
wish to explore their career options. The primary target
market is students aged 16-24, but the service will
be invaluable to anyone considering their future career.

Network
Job Network is a national network of private and
community organisations dedicated to finding jobs for
unemployed people, particularly the long term unemployed.

Placement
Providing an employer-focused recruitment service which
meets the recruitment needs of employers and assists
eligible job seekers to gain employment through access
to a large number of diverse jobs.
JobSearch
Providing jobseekers with an easy to use search engine,
allowing searches for available jobs to be carried out
by postcode, occupation or Job Number.
Courses

Work
for the Dole (WFD)
Providing work experience placements for job seekers
in approved activities which provide facilities and

can participate by assisting a volunteer organisation.
Transition
to Work
Assists people, particularly women and mature age people,
return to paid work after long absences. Builds on the
success of the Return to Work programme and the Jobs,
Education and Training (JET) programme.

to generate more employment opportunities for Australia's
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
